Gaborik Lighting It Up for Columbus

Whether you liked Marian Gaborik or not, there's no denying the guy knew how to find the back of the net (minus this year with the Rangers) and he's proving it once again in Columbus.

In the four games since the Blue Jackets acquired Gaborik for Derick Brassard, John Moore and Derek Dorsett, he has 2g, 3a, is a +3 and has 12 shots on goal. Here's Gaborik's goal on Tuesday night to put the game away for Columbus…

…so Dubinsky had the primary assist on Gaborik's first goal and now Anisimov has it on the second. Maybe the issue with Gaborik this season was not having those two guys around.

…in all seriousness, the one thing I noticed on both those goals was that Gaborik was going hard to the net, which is something he refused to do for the Rangers this season. Which sort of gets me angry. If he's so willing to do it now, why not when he was still in New York. And even if he wasn't seeing eye to eye with Torts, that's no excuse not to give 100% every night.

…i still think the Rangers are better off now than before the trade deadline, but only time will tell if trading away one of the best snipers in the NHL was best thing for the organization long term.

In five games since being traded with the Rangers, Brassard has 1g, 4a, while Moore has 1g, 1a. Dorsett has yet to play due to a broken collarbone.
