Four More Rangers Headed to Olympics

Looks like Ryan Callahan, Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan are going to see some familiar faces in Sochi, as four more Rangers will be headed to the Olympics.

Henrik Lundqvist and Carl Hagelin were named to Team Sweden, Rick Nash to Team Canada, while Mats Zuccarello was the only NHLer selected to Norway's Olympic team.

…Nash is the only controversial pick. Especially when you consider players such as St. Louis and Girioux were left off the team. Despite his lackluster first half of the season, you have to assume Nash was selected due to past performances in international competition.

…my hope with Nash, who seems to be coming around a bit lately, is that he goes to Sochi and regains his confidence while competing with some of the best players in the World. While I'm always going to be worried about the negative impact or possible hangover the Olympics can have on players, in Nash's case I feel the experience could jump start his season with the Rangers.

…Lundqvist is Team Sweden's guy, but I wonder if he falters in the first game, if the coach would turn to Gustavsson, who has been solid for Detroit this season.

…finally, it really is a shame not to see Staal on Team Canada. Without the concussion and eye issues that have plagued him the last few years, you would think he'd have been a lock for the team. Feel real bad for him today.
