Friday night should have been a memorable game for Jesper Fast after scoring his first goal in North America in his first game with the Whale. Instead, Fast apparently sustained an injury in the third period and not only didn't return to that game (or salute the fans when named the 3rd star), according to Bob Crawford he didn't play in the Whale's 3-2 win last night because he's "banged up."
…hope it's not too serious. Never a good sign when a player can't come out to salute the fans after being named a star. Hopefully he was just receiving treatment and wasn't available for the curtain call.
…Fast has the talent to push for a roster spot on the Rangers next season, he just needs a better understanding of the North American game so any prolonged absence could set his development back.
Meanwhile, to last night's game, Chris Kreider had the primary assist on Brandon Segal's game winner against Rick DiPietro's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The assist was Kreider's third in two games since being re-assigned to the Whale.
…would I like to see Kreider scoring goals? Sure. But not going to complain about this new found play making ability.
