Dorsett to Begin Skating This Week

Steve Zipay at Newsday reports that the one guy from the Marian Gaborik trade we haven't seen, Derek Dorsett, will begin skating this week.

Zipay adds that x-rays on Dorsett's broken clavicle indicate that it's healing well.

Here's Dorsett…

"I've got all this built-up energy and not being able to make an impact here is tough. I missed a few weeks with a concussion my first year and had some broken hands, but I've never been out this long."

Zipay adds that Dorsett is a cross between Brandon Prust and Sean Avery, with a reputation for never taking a shift off.

Dorsett is signed till 2015 at $1.5 million per and set career-highs in goals with 12.

…a cross between Avery & Prust? I love this guy already. If he can come even close to that comparison, I think we'll be seeing a ton of Dorsett jerseys walking around MSG real soon.

…not sure what Torts' plan is with Dorsett, but he could give this team a huge boost in the final few games and then in the playoffs. While the Rangers have been playing with more emotion and intensity since the trade I think Dorsett could take that to another level with his physicality and aggressiveness which is still missing. Can't be worse than Asham.
