During an appearance on TSN Radio (H/T Hope Smoke) today, Darren Dreger of TSN says he wouldn't at all be surprised if the Rangers make the reported Michael Del Zotto to Ottawa trade as soon as the roster freeze is lifted on December 28th.
…despite last night's complete effort, the Rangers still need a shake-up and trading Del Zotto would do just that. And don't be shocked if he figured it out somewhere else, as I'm convinced he needs a change of scenery before he's able to straighten himself out.
…what frustrates me the most is that last night we got a glimpse of how good Del Zotto can be, but his first four years have been filled with peaks and valleys with way more emphasis on the latter.
Dreger also makes an interesting observation of the Rangers organization stating that "they don't really know what direction they're headed in" and that there's been troubles with Alain Vigneault relating to players, specifically Del Zotto.
…Dreger is 100% correct in his assessment of the Rangers organization. As I mentioned yesterday regarding to the potential of Girardi being moved, the Rangers are at a crossroads right now. Does Sather overhaul the roster this offseason believing he needs to acquire players more suited to Vigneault's system or does he like the current makeup of the team and let AV take the fall for this year's debacle. Assuming how this season plays out will have a lot to do with that decision.
