With Ryan Callahan declaring that he's out for the season season opener in Phoenix on Thursday, the question is when will he finally be ready for game action.
Larry Brooks at the New York Post feels it could be as early as next Monday's second game of the season in Los Angeles. The Rangers also play at San Jose (Tuesday, Oct. 8) and Anaheim (Thursday, Oct. 10) next week.
Brooks also explains that Callahan's recovery is well ahead of Carl Hagelin's (placed on LTIR) because the Swedish winger's surgery was more complex.
…the sooner Callahan gets back in the line-up the sooner I'll start feeling better about this year's version of the Rangers. This team lacked intensity during the preseason and we all know Callahan is the remedy for that situation.
…a Callahan return will immediately drop someone who probably shouldn't be getting top six minutes (Richards? Zucc? Pouliot?) to the third line making for a much more formidable line-up.
