Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun reports that while former Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke keeps surfacing as a possible replacement with the Dallas Stars, he's also been linked to the Rangers if Glen Sather steps aside.
…not a big fan of this at all. While Burke had success in Vancouver and Anaheim, his time in Toronto was a disaster.
…the Rangers are finally starting to build a winner from within and I'm hoping they use the same strategy when eventually finding a successor for Sather. Cough, cough – Gordie Clark – cough. And if not Clark, Assistant General Manager Jeff Gorton wouldn't be a bad choice either. They're both not only familiar with the Rangers game plan for building a winner, they've written and are implementing it. Not sure why the Dolans would look outside the organization and risk messing with the current blueprint.
