One of my bigger concerns for the Rangers going into the season was the past friction between Derek Brassard and assistant Scott Arniel from their Columbus days.
But today, Brassard alleviated any worries I had by saying this (via NHL.com)…
"It's in the past and I'm looking in front of me. I talked to [Arniel] when he got hired. I called him. No hard feelings. I said to him he could be a great fit for us and I'm just looking forward to working with him," Brassard said.
Brassard added that the two are on the same page and just want to help the Rangers be a better team.
Arniel acknowledged Brassard's olive branch by stating he showed class by calling him.
Arniel also noted that that there was never any real problem between him and Brassard and it was a situation "created" by agent Allan Walsh.

…i've got to admit, I feel a lot better about the situation now. Big time props to Brassard for going out of his way to make sure there was no lingering effects from whatever happened with the Blue Jackets. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite players on the team.
Some bad news from practice, as for the second straight day JT Miller had to leave practice early with a hamstring issue.
…as I said yesterday, hamstrings can be tricky, so, while it might be frustrating for him and the team, it's probably smart to shut Miller down for a few days. He doesn't need this to become a lingering issue this season.
Meanwhile, Alain Vigneault admitted that Marty Biron is in competition with Johan Hedberg for the backup goalie position.
…WOW!!!! Didn't expect this at all. Biron has definitely been solid, but he has been prone to some poor play during his Rangers tenure. Wonder if this is a ploy by AV to light a fire under Biron.
Finally, here's some video from today's practice…
