Avalanche Could Offer Forward for Del Zotto

Earlier in the week I posted that the Colordao Avalanche have shown interest in Michael Del Zotto, however, they don't have a top four defenseman which the Rangers are demanding in return.

Now, Denver Post's Adrian Dater wonders if Avs GM Joe Sakic will try to convince Glen Sather to take a forward, possibly Jamie McGinn, in return.

The 25-year old McGinn, who is in the final year of his contract that pays him $1.75M this season, has 5g, 5a this season.

Hope no one has either Del Zotto or McGinn on their fantasy hockey team, because it likely means your team is not good.

…i'm still confused at how Sather thinks he's going to get a top four defenseman in return from a team obviously looking for defensive help. Especially when most in the NHL probably don't view Del Zotto as equal value in return.

…McGinn, who missed a few games with a knee injury this season, has recently been criticized by head coach Patrick Roy for his lack of scoring and physical play. Sounds like he'd fit in perfectly with the Rangers. Having said that, McGinn is currently on a line with Stastny and Parenteau, so he must have some offensive upside and let's be realistic, how much more of a return can you honestly expect for Del Zotto?
