Whale Drop Second Straight to Open Season

While I bet on NFL football yesterday, the CT Whale were losing their second straight to start the season. A 3-2 loss to the Ice Caps at the XL center.

Kris Newbury scored his third of the season, while Kyle Jean scored his second.

Chris Kreider and J.T. Miller both chipped in with their second assists of the year.

The Whale were 2/5 on the power play.

Here's Whale head coach Ken Gernander after the game…

Kyle Jean…

Kris Newbury…

Scott Stacjer…

…haven't seen any highlights, so hard to comment on the game itself, but this kid Jean is quickly making a name for himself. Big kid, who can put the puck in the net. A lot to love there.

…speaking of big kids who can put the puck in the net, I'm starting to get concerned about Hrivik who hasn't played a single preseason or regular season game with an undisclosed injury.

…if there's an NHL season this year, Newbury is putting himself in position to possibly make the roster or at least the first call-up from the Whale.

…Kreider looking like a flash in the pan with just two assists in two games. ;)
