In a conversation with Jeff Klein at the New York Times, John Tortorella discussed how Ryan Callahan became the Ranger organization’s 26th captain…
“Sometimes people allow the team to vote, but I didn’t need to have the team vote. We did it as a coaching staff. But if the team voted it would have been the same thing. You’ve just got to be around him.”
…surprised that Torts brought this up. Seems like something he would have kept in-house. Nonetheless, Torts made the correct decision, and like he said, the team would have absolutely voted him as captain anyway.
