For the last four and a half years, I have put my heart and soul into The New York Rangers Blog. I’ve bled blue all over this blog and it has been an honor to cover the Blueshirts on this platform.
I started this blog because I felt that Rangers fans deserved a place where they could go to find out everything about their Blueshirts.
And from Day 1 in November of 2007, when I had to beg my friends to visit the blog, until last month when a record 313,000 visits came through the doors of The New York Rangers Blog, I feel that I have provided that.
One thing I didn’t anticipate on that November night was all the amazing people I would meet along the way. Whether it was in the blog’s comments section, Twitter, Facebook, e-mail or in person at a game or event I truly appreciated every contact I made with a reader. To actually have fellow Rangers fans interested in my thoughts and feelings on this amazing franchise is mindblowing.
For those of you who remember the blog when it was over at Blogspot (see here), it was a slow go traffic wise for a while, but because of you, my readers friends, spreading the word, The New York Rangers Blog was transformed into one of the top sources for Rangers news on the web. And for that, I am ridiculously thankful.
Whether it was the Avery All Star campaign, the Boogaard Memorial T-Shirt fundraiser or TheNYRBlog Fantasy Hockey League you guys have been by my side the whole way. Without you, this crazy experience would have been so much less fulfilling.
Having said all that, I’ve got to admit I’m burned out (I guess that’s what 12 posts a day for 4 1/2 years does to a person). As I’m sure you’ve noticed, for the last week I’ve cut the amount of posts per day down to one in an effort to lessen the burden, but my head is just not into it right now.
So The New York Rangers Blog is going on hiatus. I may be back, I may not. I’ll still be on Twitter from time to time, but more to just catch up with all of you than to talk Rangers. I’ll probably update you on my plans for the blog after the summer.
I hope you enjoyed the ride, because I know I did.
Oh, and one last thing…Let’s Go Rangers!!!!!
