After putting up 40g, 65a last season, Michael St. Croix established himself as one of the Rangers top prospects.
On Sunday night, he picked up where he left off has he scored the game winner in the Edmonton Oil Kings second preseason game of the season, a 5-3 win over Red Deer. St. Croix also chipped in with an assist.
Here’s Jess Rubenstein of The Prospect Park on St. Croix…
“There is a reason why I tagged St. Croix with the nickname “The Predator” and it had nothing to do with him and Nashville. It had to do with out of the 40 goals that St. Croix scored last season 18 were on the power play and 8 were game winning goals.
The nickname has to do with the uncanny ability that St. Croix showed last season that when he saw a team on the ropes; St. Croix would go for the kill and help turn a game into a blowout.”
…while St. Croix does have some defensive shortcomings in his game, the kid can put the puck in the back of the net. Would love to see him get a late season call-up by the Whale to see how he’d compete at the next level.
…seriously, how stacked is the Rangers organization with legit prospects? In Gordie we trust.
