Last night the CT Whale surrendered a five-goal second period in their 6-4 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Kris Newbury and Kyle Jean gave the Rangers a quick 2-0 lead in the first but it was all down hill from there.
Mike Vernace and Newbury's second goal of the game made it respectable late in third period.
Chris Kreider and JT Miller each had an assist.
Matt Gilroy had a power play assist but was a -3.
Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United has a great recap here.
…the Whale have a really young squad, including two rookie goaltenders with Talbot injured, so there's going to be a lot of bumps along the way this season. But the experience they're gaining is going to be huge for their development.
…not exactly the start Gilroy wanted with a -3, especially with Torts and Sully in the crowd (see below pic via reader Chris H.). Looked good on the point with six shots on goal though. Watch your back Del Zotto.
