Rangers Willing to Listen to Offers for Gaborik

gaborikDarren Dreger of the Dreger Report says that the Rangers are willing to listen to offers for Marian Gaborik…

“Among the big names potentially available – New York’s Marian Gaborik might draw some interest in the days leading up to the deadline.

The Rangers aren’t shopping Gaborik, who has struggled this season with just 16 goals in 42 games after scoring 42 last year, but word around the league is Rangers GM Glen Sather is willing to listen to offers.”

Dreger adds that clearing Gaborik’s salary would help create cap flexibility this summer for key restricted free agents including Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Brian Boyle and Matt Gilroy.

…i don’t doubt that Sather is willing to listen, he wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t. Having said that, despite Gaborik having a tough year, I’d hate to see the Rangers give up on a proven scoring threat. Even if opening up the cap room brought in Richards, then the question is where is the scoring winger he needs to succeed. Would be very disappointed if Sather moved Gaborik.
