Rangers May Not Be Able to Buy Out Drury

drury2Arthur Staple at Newsday reports that if Chris Drury isn’t medically cleared to do things like skate by the June 15th start of the buyout period, the Rangers can’t buy him out.

Drury played in just 24 games this season because of knee and finger injuries.

Staple adds that if the team and player disagree, there’s a grievance process through the players’ association. But he doesn’t think it will come to that.

…i can’t imagine that will be an issue here. Drury played in the final game of the regular season and all five playoff games. Sure his ice time was limited, but if can play in those games two months ago he should be more than healthy now.

And for all of you hating on Drury check out both Andrew Gross’ blog post at Rangers Rants and Jess Rubenstein’s at The Prospect Park.
