Now, NSH GM Poile MUST find out if he can re-sign Weber long term. If not, he needs to begin shopping him. NYR/STL have assets to make deal

…as I’ve posted on this blog, Weber is one of the few (very few) guys I’d be willing to give-up the farm for. The Rangers haven’t had a legit power play quarterback since Leetch, and Weber is guaranteed to turn around the Blueshirts’ fortunes with the extra man on day one.
…having said that, Weber will cost the Rangers a ton. Think Del Zotto, Hagelin, Miller & a #1.
Apparently, Rangers fans aren’t the only ones who think the Blueshirts are having a rough offseason, as Adam Proteau at The Hockey News names them a summer loser up to this point…
“Last summer, the Blueshirts hit the biggest off-season home run when they signed star center Brad Richards. This year, they’ve only signed fringe contributors Taylor Pyatt, Arron Asham and Micheal Haley. Of course, that could change if they can acquire an impact player such as Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan, but for now at least, the Manhattan Mashers haven’t kept up with their competitors.”
…while I agree with Proteau, I would be floored if Sather doesn’t make an impact move to improve the offense. Whether it’s Nash, Ryan, Doan or Weber, expect Sather to make a big splash very soon.
Speaking of Nash, according to Jason Brough at Pro Hockey Talk, it looks like the Penguins have been added to his short list and they might be interested in his services.
…with the Penguins losing out on Parise, I wouldn’t be shocked to see them make a run at Nash. If the Rangers don’t get the Columbus captain, we all have to hope and pray he’s playing in the Western Conference next season along with Parise and Suter.
