Rangers 4, Senators 2

gabbyscoresplayoff
The New York Rangers defeated the Ottawa Senators by the score of 4-2 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals matchup to take a 1-0 lead in their best of seven series. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

…the best part of tonight’s victory was that the Rangers came out and played their game. They didn’t try to add any wrinkles to combat the Senators skill players. Just rode a relentless forecheck and their defensive system the same way they have all year.

…wouldn’t have expected any player other than Callahan to set the tone.

…ridonkulous move by Gaborik waiting Anderson out and burying it using that lightning quick release.

…really not sure how you guys continue to read this blog when I make predictions such as the Richards signing would be a bad move. Just a little off with that one.

…sort of a good timeout by Torts.

…Boyle went from can’t buy a goal, to chipping in with a couple, to full blown sniper.

…can someone tell Del Zotto to stop sliding on his stomach because it’s not working for him.

…Lundqvist showing early that he is ready for a long run in the playoffs.

…shooting into the empty net from center ice practice for Rupp tomorrow.

…real encouraged with Staal’s game tonight. Very physical.

…was that really Hagelin’s first NHL playoff game? Didn’t look like it.

…the penalty kill is amazing and the power play is in the toilet. All is well in the Rangers’ world.

…an assist and a +3 for Stralman. I told you the Rangers play better with him in the line-up.

…i think Kreider had more minutes than Bickel tonight.

…a little concerned that Ottawa may have gained some momentum with the two late goals but I doubt there will be much of a carry over.

…off tomorrow then Game 2 Saturday night.
