Rangers 3, Senators 2

kreiderfirstnhlgoal
The New York Rangers defeated the Ottawa Senators by the score of 3-2 in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals matchup. The series is now tied at 3-3. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

…now that’s what I’m talking about! For the first time since Game 1 the Rangers played their style of game and for the most part dominated that game.

…but I’ll tell you what, that game was looking much too similar to the last two until Stepan, who has struggled mightily the entire series, scored the biggest goal of the season. Pressure was lifted and they were a completely different team from that point on.

…turning point of the game was Prust taking on Neil. Did Prust lose the fight? Sure, but he sent a message that enough was enough and Neil was invisible from that point on. Best way to combat a bully is to punch him in the face.

…congrats to Kreider on his first NHL goal. Good thing Torts was playing him on the fourth line the last two games.

…officiating was atrocious from beginning to end for both teams. Nothing worse than video replay confirming Neil’s goal despite the obvious kicking motion. Can’t wait to hear the explanation on that one.

…i will take full responsibility for this win because of my Messier guarantee post this morning. lol

…wow, the power play might have outplayed the penalty kill tonight. And that’s saying a lot because the penalty kill was unreal.

…i take back every bad thing I’ve said about Del Zotto on this blog after that hit on Neil. And so help me God if he gets suspended.

…i told you the Richards signing was worth it.

…was Bickel left in New York to take care of Boyle?

…wonder if Rangers still had Gomez instead of McDonagh, if he’d be having the same impact in this series as the Rangers stud defenseman?

…couple of days off to enjoy this before Game 7 on Thursday night.

Rangers 3, Senators 2

The New York Rangers (8-3-3) defeated the Ottawa Senators (7-8-1) by the score of 3-2, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

…you know it’s going good when the Rangers have just four guys show up tonight & they still win. If you don’t know who those four are you didn’t watch the game.

…haven’t seen chemistry like the G.A.S. (Gabby, Stepan, AA) line since the Czechmates. 3g, 4a and a +9 combined tonight.

…as good as that line was, the Rangers don’t walk out of the building with a win without Lundqvist.

…don’t think many Rangers fans invisioned Richards on a line with Prust when the Blueshirts signed him this summer. Bad job by Torts abandoning the lines that have been so successful this week not even half way through the game.

…with Stralman ready to go and Woywitka’s gaffe on Ottawa’s second goal, I think we all know what line-up change will be made Friday night.

…wasn’t the greatest night for the defense, but the Rangers have allowed just eight goals during their five game winning streak.

…anyone still doubting the “Avery Effect?” Haven’t lost since his recall. Loved him going after Konopka and then the slash on Anderson. Slowly but surely we’re seeing the Avery of old.

…23 blocked shots tonight. Hope Rammer had ice bags ready after this one.

…loved Deveaux dropping the coward Cowen despite the Ottawa defenseman leaving his visor on during their scrap.

QUOTES (via Blueshirts United):
Derek Stepan…

“The way we are playing, doing the right things and staying with the details is the biggest thing. We’ve got to continue to play hard and use our legs to create things. That’s what I think our biggest thing was tonight, we put a lot of pressure on their D, and it makes it tough as a defenseman to make a play when you’ve got two guys screaming at you—your options close up pretty quickly. Our forecheck was strong and we took advanatge of it.”

Artem Anisimov…

“I think we have high confidence right now, and we need to grow this confidence every game to play even better as a line. We need to keep an eye on the back of each other. If someone makes a mistake let’s come back and go hard for him.”

Marian Gaborik…

“First of all we had a good forecheck and kept our legs moving. Second of all, when we get the puck, guys are confident to make a play. We are winning the battles, getting in their first, and I think that’s how we created our goals.”
