Update, 6:29 p.m.:
Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog reports that MSG Sports president and Rangers alternate governor Scott O’Neil, as well as Glen Sather, the full training staff and nearly all of the players attended the funeral. John Tortorella, recovering from knee replacement surgery earlier this month, is not yet able to travel.
Former Rangers Brendan Shanahan and Jody Shelley were also in attendance.
Andrew Gross at Rangers Rants reports an estimated 35 members of the Rangers organization attended Derek Boogaard’s funeral today in Regina, Saskatchewan, including Erk Christensen who had this to say about the services…
“To be honest, I haven’t been to a service like this since I was very little,” Christensen said. “It was sad. I didn’t get a chance to know Boogey like a lot of other people did. There were a lot of the guys on the team, a lot of the Wild players were there. Obviously his family. We just got to see the person that some of us didn’t get to know. Some of the speeches were nice, touching and sad at the same time. Obviously, it was a somber kind of day. You kind of walk out of the place and feel a little sad.”

…that must have been one heart breaking scene this morning. RIP Derek Boogaard.
