Nash Knocked Out, No Response from Rangers

Last night in the first period Rick Nash took a vicious blow to the head from Brad Stuart…

And here was the Rangers response…

…yep, for the second time in less than a year, the Rangers super star forward gets his bell rung with zero response from his teammates. Was hoping to hear Thornton call this team soft again after the game so I could absolutely 100% agree with him.

…listen, I can take an ass whipping. There are going to be games during the season where you just don't have it, but it is inexcusable not to stick up for your teammate. Especially less than a week after Nash came to the aid of Stepan. I don't care if Asham or Dorsett handed the Sharks a five-minute power play for jumping over the boards to manhandle Stuart, a message had to be sent there.

…to the anti-enforcer crowd, do you still think there isn't a place on this roster for a Bickel or a Mashinter? Trust me, similar to last season, other teams have taken notice of the inaction and will be prepared to take liberties with Rangers skill players (do they have any left?) as they know there won't be any repercussions. The Canadiens must be licking their chops.

So how did Nash feel after the game? (via New York Post)…

“It’s just a headache,” said Nash. “I didn’t feel it [right away], it came later. I just didn’t feel right.

“It was a head shot,” Nash added. “Any time there’s a head shot you’re concerned when you feel the way it feels. It’s not a good feeling.”

Nash played eight shifts after the penalty, and saw 5:53 of ice time in the period, but the Rangers announced before the start of the second period that Nash would not return to the game.

Nash missed four games last season due to a concussion after a hit from Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins

It is unknown whether Nash will be available for tomorrow night's game in Anaheim.

Brad Stuart will have a disciplinary hearing Wednesday for the hit.

Here's more from Nash…

…i wondered during the offseason who was going to score on this team other than Nash, I guess we're going to find out if he's out for an extended period of time.

…and while the line of Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello have had some nice chemistry, they need to start finding the back of the net.

And don't even get me started on the lack of a response to this….

…Hertl needed to be on his ass after embarrassing the Rangers like that.

…btw, what the hell was Del Zotto doing on that play.
