Miller Being Counted On to Lead Team USA at World Juniors

During Team USA World Junior camp yesterday, American coach Phil Housley discusses what he expects from J.T. Miller (2011 – 1st) at this year's tournament in Russia (via NHL.com)…

"He's very, very strong. You're going to need grit in this tournament, especially our team — we're playing four games in five nights — so definitely we're going to have to have some guys that play with some consistency and I see J.T. doing that."

Miller adds this on being counted on to provide leadership for the younger players (via ESPN.com)…

“We have a lot of guys that this is their first experience doing this. I’m the only guy playing pro also, so I’m just trying to take what I know and try to feed it onto the guys, try to guide them and lead them along the way here. Just trying to give them any knowledge I can about what to expect.”

…really excited to see how Miller responds to the pressure of being a leader. If he can help bring home a medal, it should give him a ton of confidence to not only take his game to the next level on the ice in Hartford but also in the locker room.

Meanwhile, the Rangers other Team USA camp participant Brady Skjei had a top six defensive spot…

…well that bodes well for his chances of making the squad.

Finally, a special guest made an appearance…

The tournament begins on December 26th and every Team USA game will be broadcast on the NHL Network. For schedule, click here.
