McIlrath to Meet with Doctors on Knee Surgery Recovery

…fingers crossed. Would love to get him working with Beukeboom down with the Whale as soon as possible.

Speaking of Beukeboom, Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United was able to speak with CT Whale head coach Ken Gernander about his new assistant coach…

“We’re really excited to have Beuk with us. Obviously he has a world of experience as far as being a former NHL player and past Stanley Cup champion, but aside from that I know he’s going to be a hard-working guy and he can lead by example because he’s a passionate guy who will be consistent with these kids day-in and day-out.”

Gernander also spoke about his responsibility to the Rangers franchise…

“I feel a sense of responsibility to the players because they are taking their direction from me and I have some part and some say in helping get them to the next level. But I also feel responsibility to (the Rangers) because they have entrusted me with these players who, if I can help them develop, become important assets and members of the New York Rangers. There’s a good deal of responsibility there but really the workload is spread out throughout this organization.”

…Gernander has done an absolute amazing job having prospects ready to perform in the NHL when called upon. He was a vital piece of the Rangers success last year and it’s only a matter of time until we see him coaching in the NHL.
