Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that Chris Kreider will be the only Rangers player off the current roster who would be sent to the CT Whale of the AHL if there is a lockout as the other younger players would have to pass through waivers.
Speaking of placing players on waivers, Bob McKenzie at TSN reports that Rangers have done so to Sean Collins, Mike Vernace, Michael Haley, Chad Kolarik, Kris Newbury, Logan Pyett, Brandon Segal and Tommy Grant so that they can also play for the Whale during the lockout.
…obviously smart move to get Kreider more professional hockey experience rather than sitting on his couch all day waiting for the lockout to end.
…got to assume no GM has the balls to claim anyone else’s players off waivers during these circumstances. Unless of course the GM’s name is Paul Holmgren.
