Kreider Not Easily Fazed

During his conference call yesterday, John Tortorella gave this comment on his impressions of Chris Kreider’s performance up until this point (via Bergen Record)…

“The thing that impressed me the most about him right now in just a couple of days being with him is forget what’s on the ice, it’s how he’s handled the situation. I’m sure there’s a letdown after the college season is over. Not only coming into playoffs, but also an elimination game last night. I just don’t think much fazes the guy and the mental mindset part of it. That’s what’s really interesting. I’m very impressed in the short term with him, I’m really impressed with that.”

…Kreider is becoming more confident with every shift and as great as he’s been I think the best is yet to come from the Rangers top prospect in the playoffs.

…i’ve said it a few times on this bog, but Kreider’s character could be more impressive than his skill set. His maturity has allowed him to thrive in an otherwise very pressure situation.

…now that he’s gotten his first NHL goal out of the way, I’m assuming he’s not going to be fanning on anymore lay-ups on the crease.
