Kreider: NHL A Lot Harder Than I Thought

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record was able to speak with Chris Kreider after practice today about his first NHL experience last night…

“It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be coming in. It’s very taxing. It’s a challenge every single shift.”

Kreider added that he felt good about his performance last night.

…as should all of Rangers Nation. He couldn’t have walked into a more high pressure situation and I thought he passed with flying colors. Looking forward to him getting better every game and hopefully pushing some of his new teammates (see Dubinsky & Mitchell) to get better.

For more from Kreider go to Blueshirts United.

Also at practice, Steve Eminger tells Gross that his sprained right ankle is as good as it’s going to get and that he’ll play through aches. However, he still needs a couple of more practices.

…if for some reason Torts isn’t comfortable putting Kreider back out there he could decide to re-insert Eminger into the line-up and move Bickel up to forward. But I don’t see him doing that.

According to Steve Zipay at Newsday, Henrik Lundqvist, Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh, Michael DelZotto and Marc Staal were not on the ice for today’s optional practice, which was being watched by Glen Sather and Mark Messier.
