Matt Gilroy spoke with Blueshirts United about why he re-joined the Rangers organization by signing with the CT Whale…
"I had options on where I could sign, but this was a comfortable spot for me, close to home, somewhere I have played before, obviously," explained Gilroy. "I am just really lucky to be playing right now, and really fortunate to have the chance to learn from (Whale assistant coach Jeff Beukeboom). I have learned so much from him already. It's incredible how much he knows and how well he explains things. I am really impressed."
Gilroy practiced on the top power play unit Wednesday and will be wearing his familiar #97.
…at the age of 28, Gilroy is really going to have to make an impression with the CT Whale if he ever wants to see the NHL again.
…after thinking about the signing the last few days, I actually do like it. Despite the top tier talent the Rangers have on their blueline, they are lacking depth with Torts obviously not 100% confident in Bickel and Eminger being nothing more than a 7th defenseman. Plus, if Del Zotto doesn't continue to progress, Gilroy could be an interesting option on the power play.
