The New York Rangers lost to the New Jersey Devils by the score of 5-3 in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Finals matchup. The Devils lead the series 3-2. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.
…we Rangers fans love to recall 1994, and your current Blueshirts are going to need a 1994 replay to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals now. Anyone going to make a Messier-like guarantee tomorrow?
…tough, tough loss. As has been the case all season, the Rangers never gave up, but if you’re going to spot your opponent a 3-0 lead, you make it real hard on yourself to win a hockey game.
…the funny thing about the loss is that it was the best the Rangers played the entire series and I feel real positive about their chances of coming back and winning Games 6 & 7. Lots of players who had been struggling really stepped up their game. Got to hope there’s a carry over.
…now that’s the Callahan we know and love. Absolute animal tonight.
…and Fedotenko wasn’t that far behind him for best Ranger on the ice.
…did Del Zotto lose another relative today?
…not exactly the best time for Lundqvist to give up his worst goal of the playoffs.
…nice to see the reappearance of the forecheck.
…13-for-14 on faceoffs for Boyle.
…nothing great from Dubinsky, but still loved having him back out there. Lots of energy.
…with the way Prust played tonight, maybe every Rangers player should have gotten suspended for a game during the playoffs.
…epic Maaaaaaaaaaaarty chants by the Garden Faithful. Nice work!
…i guess demotions motivate Gaborik more than benchings as he was all over the ice.
…it’s gotten so bad for Richards in this series, he’s now trying to score on his own goal.
…tough playoffs just got tougher for Hagelin who lost Carter on the winner.
…another solid game for Kreider, but he’s got to look to shoot a little more.
…remember Rangers fans, this team has been here before in these playoffs and know what it takes to get it done. Sure this one hurts, but no reason to think this series is over.
…off tomorrow then Game 6 on Friday, 18 years to the day of “The Guarantee” game.
