Pat Leonard at the Blueshirts Blog has Brad Richards reaction to Carl Hagelin’s play since being called up from the Whale…
“For Hagelin to come up and only play this many games and do what he’s doing, it’s tremendous for the organization,” Richards said on Wednesday. “Obviously his speed is the key. If he gets going I can throw the puck into areas. And he’s a lot smarter than people think, I believe also, at finding people.”
Here’s Hagelin on playing with Richards and Ryan Callahan…
“It’s going to be an adjustment,” said Hagelin. “I think me, Boyle and Mitch were doing a good job of controlling the puck down low and getting pucks deep. And I think with Richards he’s going to be trying to carry the puck in a bit more, I’ve got to try to get open a bit more, because I know if I get open, he’s gonna find me.
“At the same time, Cally works really hard, wins puck battles, he’s got a good shot and he’s also a good passer. So it shouldn’t be hard for me. They’re two of the top guys on the team.”
In their first full game together last night the line was scoreless.
…while the line didn’t generate much offense last night, I love that Torts has the confidence in Hagelin to put him on this line. Great seeing him get some power play time as well.
…and to think Christensen made the roster in camp over him. What was Torts thinking?
