Rangers Actually Receive Preferential Treatment

refsrangersJames O’Brien at Pro Hockey Talk looks at which NHL teams have benefited the most (or suffered the greatest) from officials’ calls by combining the opportunity plus/minus totals from every post-lockout season.

Since 2005 the Rangers have received 20 more power plays than penalties (2153 to 2133).

…i’ve got to say I am shocked by this number. I always felt the Rangers received way more penalties than power plays over the years. While 20 isn’t a huge number, it does prove the Rangers are actually being treated fairly by the refs. I’m dumbfounded.
