McNaught an Intimidating Figure

mcnaughtIn day 8 of the Rangers “20 Prospects in 20 Days” they take a look at tough guy Randy McNaught (2010 – 7th)…

Gordie Clark, Rangers Director of Player Personnel, on McNaught,

“He plays a very aggresive game and is there for his teammates. He takes on every guy that challenges him. We know he can do that role, but we also know he can do more. In today’s game, you have to be able to do more to even play that role.”

Here’s McNaught, who suffered a season ending ankle injurt last October, on what Rangers fans should expect from him…

“If I could model my game after anyone playing in the NHL today, I would probably choose a player like Milan Lucic,” said McNaught. “I’d want to be physical and play a little offense, too. When I was younger, scoring goals was more of my role. That changed in junior, but I still feel that I have decent hands for my size and for the role I play. I definitely like to help out offensively, and most of my goals come from working hard in the corners and going hard to the net, although there are no toe drags.”

…with the unfortunate death of Boogaard there is obviously an opening in the toughness department with the Rangers. If they want to save money McNaught could be a guy they call up for certain games (Flyers, Islanders, etc.) as protection for their skill players.
