Konopka: Sens Still Ticked About Hit on Alfredsson (Updated)

konopkaUpdate, 3:56 p.m.:
Looks like John Tortorella is at it again as Mike Halford at Pro Hockey Talk has this response from Torts on Konopka’s comments…

“I don’t give a crap what Zenon said, or whatever his name is said,” Tortorella said following the Rangers’ pregame skate. “We’re going to go about our business and try to play the right way.”

…Torts has been on absolute fire lately. So loving him right now.

Original Post:
Andrew Gross at Rangers Rants reports that Zenon Konopka says the Senators are stilled ticked off about Wojtek Wolski’s hit to the head on Daniel Alfredsson during the teams last meeting a week and a half ago that left the Ottawa captain with a concussion and out of the line-up since…

“Sure there is,” Konopka said when asked if there would be bad blood tonight. “We lost our captain. I look right across (in the Senators’ dressing room) and see him gone. It was a big blow to our lineup. I look at that and it (ticks) me off. I thought (Wolski’s) hit was worse than mine. In my mind, mine was a hockey play but everybody has their own interpretations.”

Alfredsson said this morning that he was not upset with Wolski.

Konopka received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a hit on Artem Anisimov during the same game.

…if Konopka’s intention is to get back at Wolski then he’s going to have to wait 4-to-6 weeks as the Rangers forward is out with a sports hernia.

…if the Senators try to get physical with the Rangers tonight I am more than confident the Blueshirts have enough toughness in the line-up to combat whatever is thrown at them.

…as I’ve said I thought both hits in the game were legal.

…sounds like Sens may be more interested in revenge tonight than winning. Hopefully the Rangers can take advantage of that.
