Hurricanes 4, Rangers 1

The New York Rangers (27-19-3) lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (23-18-6) by the score of 4-1, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

…as always you can’t complain about the effort but unlike last night the Rangers just couldn’t bury their chances. Could be they were facing an actual NHL goaltender tonight or that half the Rangers roster is from Hartford.

…feast or famine continues for Gaborik as a night after scoring four goals he puts up just two shots on goal. Glad to see Torts keep Avery with Gaborik despite the zeros on the score sheet.

…man you’ve got to love Prust. 1g, +1, 3 SOG and a fight. Can’t beat that line.

…a little sloppy on defense to start the game as the action was back and forth which obviously doesn’t benefit this team.

…pretty solid Rangers debut for Kolarik. Might be nice to see him with Boyle and Prust on Saturday night.

…Newbury was 8-for-10 on faceoffs tonight and is 18-for-24 since being called up. Drury better watch his back because with the way he’s playing he may not have a spot in the line-up once players start getting healthy.

…when the Rangers don’t have their good forecheck going they don’t have a chance.

…Weise has plateaued a bit. Might be time to sit him down in favor of Dupont.

…with so many players out these next three games might be tough Rangers fans. Just stay positive and remind yourself that Callahan will be back after the All Star break followed by shootout hero EC.

…off tomorrow than at Atlanta Saturday night.
