Avery a Buyout Candidate

averynudeJim Matheson at the Edmonton Journal says Sean Avery getting scratched in the playoffs, is a good indication the Rangers aren’t thrilled with him and that he’s a buyout possibility along with Chris Drury.

…i hate all this buyout talk. I know it will open up some cap room this summer, but it kills me that the Rangers would pay a non-roster Avery $1,333,333 in 2012-13 when they can just send him down to the Whale this year, get his entire salary off the books and be done with him at the end of the 2011-12 season.

Matheson adds that the Rangers want free-agent Brad Richards to center their first line, so they can move Brandon Dubinsky down to number two center.

…h/t to Spector’s Hockey.
