Found this over at HF Boards. Jim Matheson at the Edmonton Journal reports that Tom Renney took complete responsibility for the dreaded Hugh Jessiman (2003 – 12th overall) pick…
“Tom Renney, as good a judge of hockey horseflesh as there is, was in charge of the Rangers’ scouting when they took big forward Hugh Jessiman (No. 12 overall in 2003). “Yup. That was me,” said the Oilers coach.”
Jessiman is now playing for the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL farm club in Rockford.
…now I’m really glad the Rangers fired him. I kid Renney. No need to go over who the Rangers passed up on to draft Jessiman. It’s just too painful.
