Gaborik Named 2nd Star of Sunday

gaborikGreg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy named Marian Gaborik 2nd star of Sunday for his hat trick against Edmonton…

No. 2 Star: Marian Gaborik, New York Rangers
Gaborik’s hat trick was the most notable offensive achievement in a game full of them, as the Rangers routed the Edmonton Oilers, 8-2. He opened the scoring, tied the game in the second period at 2-2 and assisted on Alex Frolov’s late second-period goal before closing out the scoring in the third with a goal. Frolov also had a 4-point day with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Brian Boyle was given an honorable mention, while Sean Avery received a dishonorable mention for his role in yesterday’s brawl that Wyshynski also recaps here.

…the one thing that makes me angry about yesterday is you know the talk around the national hockey media will be more about Avery than Gaborik. While I wasn’t happy with Avery’s “punch” way too much will be made of it because of who he is.
